Tobermory Unveils Four-Whisky Christmas 2026 Range

Tobermory has never before married rum and Tequila cask maturation in one bottle, but its new Ledaig Castaway does exactly that. It is one of four whiskies in the Isle of Mull distillery's Christmas 2026 range, which covers both its unpeated Tobermory and peated Ledaig styles. Prices run from £47 to £90 (US$63 to US$121), so there is an entry point for newcomers and a stronger, more collectible pour for fans.
Did You Know?
Ledaig Castaway is the first time the brand has combined rum and Tequila cask maturation.
Tobermory has been making whisky on the Isle of Mull since 1798, which makes it one of Scotland's oldest distilleries.
Tobermory and Ledaig come from the same distillery. One is fruity and unpeated, the other smoky and peated.
The Release
The range is built around two house styles. Tobermory is the rich, fruity, unpeated malt, while Ledaig is the peated, smoky, more robust one. Two of the four bottles come from The Lores of Mull series, which draws on island folklore for both the whisky and the illustrated packaging.
Tobermory 12 Year Old leads the lineup at £47 (US$63). The distillery calls it its signature single malt and "the natural starting point for the range," and it serves as the easiest way into the fruitier Tobermory style.
The Whispers of Burg is a 13-year-old Tobermory priced at £90 (US$121). It is inspired by a fairy mound hidden in the ancient hills of Burg and the folklore about its unseen guardians. It was finished in Amontillado Sherry casks, a dry style of sherry, and bottled at 55.6% ABV. According to the brand, it brings honey, nuts and gentle spice, along with black liquorice, citrus, toasted oats, vanilla and orange marmalade.
Ban-fhàidh's Rebirth moves the Lores series into smokier territory at £70 (US$94). Its story centers on an ancient seeress whose renewal in the waters of Loch Bà marks the changing of the seasons. The whisky combines Ledaig matured in Bolgheri wine casks with spirit matured in Spanish Brandy casks, and it is bottled at 57.6% ABV. The brand's notes cite Hebridean smoke, dark fruit, warming spice, chocolate, roasted coffee and toasted oak.
Ledaig Castaway, at £65 (US$87), rounds out the range. Its rum and Tequila cask combination adds what the distillery calls "exotic depth" to Ledaig's peated profile.
The Story of Tobermory
Tobermory sits in the island town of the same name on the Isle of Mull, and it is the only distillery on the island. It was founded in 1798 as Ledaig, and that original name now lives on as the label for its peated whisky.
The distillery has changed hands several times and has gone through periods of closure over its long history. Its unpeated Tobermory malt also plays a supporting role in blends, including Scottish Leader and Black Bottle. Making two very different single malts under one roof is a big part of what sets it apart from many island peers.
Why It Stands Out
Holiday ranges often repeat familiar expressions. This one has a clear spread, from a core 12 year old to cask-finished, higher-strength limited editions. The unusual cask recipes are the real draw. A sherry finish, a Tuscan wine and brandy pairing, and a rum and Tequila combination give each bottle a different angle. Both Lores bottles are bottled well above standard strength, which suits drinkers who like to add their own water.

Tonights Poison Take
This is a smart range for gifting and for exploring. The 12 Year Old is the safe handshake, while Castaway is the one that will start conversations, since rum and Tequila casks are not typical Scotch territory. Collectors should look at the two Lores bottles first, with their folklore packaging and higher strengths. At £65 to £90, they sit in reasonable territory for limited editions.
Bar Talk: Tobermory and Ledaig are one distillery making two whiskies, and this year's Ledaig Castaway is its first rum and Tequila cask marriage.
Send this to the peated Scotch fan who is curious about what Tequila casks can do.
Please enjoy responsibly.
