Johnnie Walker Blue Label Unveils Indian Festive Blend

Johnnie Walker Blue Label has a new limited edition built around the flavors of an Indian festive table: cardamom, saffron and rosewater, with a wisp of smoke. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend was created by Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker for India's festive season, and it marks the second year of the brand's collaboration with Indian designer Rahul Mishra. It is available now in the US for $220 per 750-ml bottle.
Did You Know?
Johnnie Walker's whisky reserves hold more than 10 million casks, and this blend draws on some of the rarest whiskies in them, according to The Whisky Wire.
Johnnie Walker is the world's highest selling Scotch whisky, with reported sales of 20.3 million cases in 2025.
One trade write-up says this is a new blend, not a repackaged standard Blue Label. The 2025 Mishra edition was described as a limited edition bottle design.
The Release
Dr. Emma Walker built the blend from whiskies in Johnnie Walker's reserves, including those from distilleries across the Diageo portfolio. Diageo says the whisky was developed to pair with Indian cuisine and draws on flavors tied to the country's festive food. Walker said, "I was captivated by the artistry of Indian cuisine." She described how chefs balance bold spice with harmony and depth, and that idea guided the blend.
Walker's goal was to layer aromatic cardamom, clove and cinnamon with smooth sweetness while keeping the Blue Label signature depth.
According to Diageo, the whisky shows notes of cardamom, saffron, rosewater, citrus, honey, chocolate-dipped fruit and warm spices, with smoke in the background.
Mishra designed the packaging for the expression. Jamie Young, Diageo's vice president of Scotch, said the release celebrates gathering, gifting and the joy of the season. Mishra said that for him, true luxury carries meaning and preserves craftsmanship.
The launch also kicks off a broader Blue Label campaign with Mishra, including consumer experiences and events in the coming months.
If you want to mix with it, BevMo lists a Saffron Glow Old Fashioned made with saffron-infused honey syrup and orange bitters. It also suggests a neat pour in a tulip glass with a chilled water sidecar, which it calls The Gilded Drop. The brand's US page features a Festive Blue Manhattan with aged sweet vermouth and saffron-infused honey syrup.
The Story of Johnnie Walker
Johnnie Walker traces back to 1820, when grocer John Walker opened a shop in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Walker was born in 1805. His family's trustees invested the proceeds from the sale of the family farm in an Italian warehouse, grocery, and wine and spirits shop on Kilmarnock's High Street.
His son Alexander "Alec" Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II were largely responsible for turning the whisky into a favored brand. Today it is produced by Diageo and is the best selling Scotch in the world.
For nearly two centuries the brand was tied to Kilmarnock. Its Hill Street plant, once the world's largest bottling plant, closed in 2012.
Why It Stands Out
Limited editions tied to a specific culture and season are a good way to see how a big brand can use blending to tell a story. Here the flavor targets are spices and sweets, not just cask styles. Pairing the liquid with a couture designer's packaging also makes it a natural gift bottle. For collectors, the Mishra series is now two editions deep, and this one is reportedly a new blend. Johnnie Walker also recently released Johnnie Walker Black Cask Blended Scotch Whisky.

Tonights Poison Take
This is a Blue Label that leans into spice and sweetness, which makes it a more specific pour than the standard bottle. At $220 it sits in gift territory, and the Mishra packaging fits that role. If you like to compare how a blender builds flavor around a food culture, it is worth a look next to the regular Blue Label.
Bar Talk: Johnnie Walker Blue Label's Indian Festive Blend was created with cardamom and saffron notes in mind to match the flavors of a festive Indian table.
