Cincoro Añejo Reserva

Michael Jordan's tequila brand just dropped a holiday-season bottle that blends two ages of aged tequila. Cincoro Añejo Reserva is a limited-edition expression made from Blue Weber agave, aged 28 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels, then married with Cincoro Extra Añejo for extra depth. It arrives in a white-and-gold gift box and went on sale November 4, 2026.

What Makes This Release Special?

Cincoro already makes añejo and extra añejo, so this is not a rehash of something on the shelf. Añejo Reserva is a new, limited expression built by blending a 28-month tequila with the brand's older Extra Añejo. Think of it like a chef adding a little reduced stock to a sauce: the younger tequila brings freshness, and the older one adds weight.

Co-founder Emilia Fazzalari said the extended aging and blending give it a complex flavor profile and "a new dimension" in the portfolio. Jordan, the basketball legend and fellow co-founder, said in the release: "We set out to create something special with Añejo Reserva."

The release gives no batch size or bottle count, so how limited "limited" really is remains unclear.

Inside the Bottle

Añejo is the tequila category for bottles aged at least one year but less than three. Extra añejo is the next step up, aged more than three years. Blending the two is a way to get some of that older, deeper character without the whole bottle sitting in wood for years.

The agave is Blue Weber, sourced from both the highlands and lowlands of Jalisco. Highland agave tends to run sweeter and fruitier, while lowland agave leans earthier, so using both is a way to balance the base. The aging happens in Tennessee whiskey barrels.

According to Cincoro, it delivers notes of toasted oak, baking spices, cooked agave and dark chocolate. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), and the tequila is a golden amber color. The bottle is white with a gold agave star pattern, and the gift box has a window so the bottle shows through.

The Story Behind Cincoro

Cincoro began with a dinner. In July 2016, five friendly competitors sat down together and bonded over a shared love of tequila. They kept the adventures going, and eventually decided on one mission: make the finest tequila they had ever tasted.

The five founders are Michael Jordan, Jeanie Buss of the Los Angeles Lakers, Wes Edens of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck of the Boston Celtics. Rivals on the court, partners at the bar. The brand officially launched in 2019.

Cincoro says its tequila is made from hand-selected Blue Weber agave from private farms in Jalisco, slow-cooked in small batches. The brand says it has won more than 36 awards in accredited spirits competitions since it started.

Not a bad price for an extra anejo.
