Angel's Envy Cellar Collection Volume 6

Angel's Envy has announced Cellar Collection Volume 6: Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Peach Brandy & Toasted Oak Barrels, a limited release arriving nationwide on October 9, 2026. It is the first bottle in the Cellar Collection series to get two separate cask finishes, which makes it a notable step for a brand built on finishing.

The Release

Master Distiller Owen Martin created Volume 6 as a blend of rye whiskeys finished in two types of barrels: peach brandy and toasted oak. Earlier Cellar Collection bottles used a single finish. This one stacks two.

According to the brand, the whiskeys in the blend are between 8 and 11 years old in total. The components spent either 15 to 23 months finishing in peach brandy barrels or 6 to 12 months in toasted oak barrels. The idea is that each finish adds its own layer without burying the rye's natural spice.

Martin describes the approach in simple terms. "I wanted to build layers of flavor," he said. In his words, the peach brandy barrels bring vibrant fruitiness while the toasted oak adds warmth. He also says the Cellar Collection is where the team pulls from its whiskey archives to see what finishing can do.

Bottled at 106.4 proof (53.2% ABV), the whiskey carries the following tasting notes, according to the distillery. The nose offers ripe stone fruit, baking spice, vanilla and oak. The palate brings peach, caramel, cinnamon, toasted oak and rye spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering oak and orchard fruit.

Angel's Envy says about 36,000 bottles (750 mL) will be released at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

The Story of Angel's Envy

Angel's Envy was founded in 2010 and was among the first American whiskey producers to use a secondary finishing process across its portfolio. Today, every whiskey it makes is finished in hand-selected barrels to add another layer of flavor.

The core lineup shows the range of that approach: a Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in Port wine barrels, a rye finished in Caribbean rum casks, and a Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in a blend of Hungarian, Chinkapin and French oak barrels. The brand also puts out a variety of special releases, of which the Cellar Collection is one.

The distillery opened at 500 East Main Street in 2016, making it the first full-production whiskey distillery in downtown Louisville. In June 2022, Angel's Envy completed an $8.2 million expansion that doubled its annual guest capacity. The whiskey is produced by Louisville Distilling Company, a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited, and is sold in all 50 U.S. states and several international markets.

Why It Stands Out

Finished rye is a smaller corner of the finished whiskey world than finished bourbon, and a rye finished in peach brandy barrels is an unusual pairing on its own. Adding a toasted oak finish on top makes Volume 6 a more layered experiment than a typical single-finish special release. The age range of 8 to 11 years also gives it more maturity than many finished limited editions. At roughly $200, it sits at a premium price for the brand, and with 36,000 bottles planned, it is a sizable run for a limited release.

Tonights Poison Take

The dual finish is the real story here. Peach brandy and rye is an inviting combination on paper, and the toasted oak should give it some structure. At $199.99 it is not an impulse buy, but the 8 to 11 year age range and the larger bottle count make it easier to find than most limited releases. Collectors who have followed the Cellar Collection will want to see how the two-stage approach plays out in the glass.

Please enjoy responsibly.
